Watch: Alt-J’s New Video “Pusher”

A week ahead of their India debut, the UK indietronica band have released their fourth music video off their 2014 album ‘This Is All Yours’

If you follow UK indietronica/experimental rock band Alt-J’s YouTube page, you know they love music videos as if it were still 1990. Five months after the release of their third full-length album This Is All Yours, the band has released their fourth single, “Pusher,” with a music video that depicts loneliness and desperation.

Directed by French music video director Thomas Rhazi, from video production group Division Paris, the video literally revolves [shot with a camera on a dolly track that moves in a circle] around a man who walks into a floodlit stadium ground, stands on a pulpit and begins an exasperated monolog about mercy and violence in French, before taking a turn for the worst. The man’s desperate plea is set to the quiet, stripped down “Pusher,” one among a handful of slow, acoustic tracks off This Is All Yours.

The video release comes in the same week as Alt-J’s debut India shows as part of live gig series Emerge’s first festival edition in Bengaluru on February 28th and in Gurgaon on March 1st. Considering it’s their latest single, we wouldn’t be surprised if “Pusher” was part of Alt-J’s headline set at Emerge.
