More Artists Added to the Ziro Festival of Music Lineup
Rock band Indus Creed, Delhi garage rock band The Superfuzz and singer Suman Sridhar will perform at the third edition of the festival in Arunachal Pradesh
The third edition of the Ziro Festival of Music in Arunachal Pradesh to be held between September 25th and September 28th just announced additions to its artist lineup. The four-day festival, which earlier announced acts such as reggae act The Ska Vengers and guitarist-poet Jeet Thayil’s new rock band Still Dirty as performing bands, have also included Mumbai-based rock veterans Indus Creed, singer Suman Sridhar [from jazz/grime duo Sridhar/Thayil] and Delhi garage rock act The Superfuzz, who reunited earlier this year.
Other bands added to the lineup include Aizawl rock band Freddy’s Nightmare, folk rockers Avi and the Uprising, Kolkata rapper Feyago, Meghalaya-based folk musicians Rida and The Musical Folks, Itanagar indie acoustic artist Taba Chake, Arunachal folk fusion act Omak Komut Collective and Delhi rock band Five8, among others.
Another change from the last announcement was the exclusion of Kolkata pop artist Nischay Parekh, who will be prepping for the Red Bull Music Academy, which takes place in Tokyo. Although Ziro was headlined by American rock guitarist Lee Ranaldo and his band the Dust [featuring Sonic Youth bandmate and drummer Steve Shelley], the organizers are yet to announce international acts. The festival’s co-founder and creative producer Anup Kutty [also guitarist with Still Dirty and Delhi alt rock band Menwhopause] told Radioandmusic.com that the Ziro lineup will include “a country singer from Texas whose name will be revealed soon, he is a phenomenal country singer.”
