Aswekeepsearching Head Out on ‘Zia’ Launch Gigs
The Ahmedabad/Pune post-rockers will be joined by Zokova in New Delhi and Mumbai, and Inthenow in Bengaluru
After their one-of-a-kind Listening Tour to promote their third release Zia, which took frontman Uddipan Sarmah across the country and even to Nepal, post-rock band Aswekeepsearching are finally ready to give fans the live experience of their new album. The band will play four shows starting later this month.
Between May 26th and June 7th, Aswekeepsearching will perform in the metros – Pune, New Delhi, Bengaluru and Mumbai. Sarmah says, “The tour was actually planned to be a bigger one, but we later realized that monsoon is almost here. So considering the best, we decided we will be playing four gigs now as launch gigs.” He adds that there are plans to add more cities later on, including Guwahati, Kochi and Kolkata.
Never ones to simply get on stage and play, Aswekeepsearching are prepping a special production value to their launch gigs. They’re working with Mumbai-based live production manager Shipra Venkatesh. Sarmah says, “Expect some venue decors, mood setting lights and some surprises.”
The band will be joined by New Delhi instrumental rockers Zokova and post rockers for their Mumbai leg. Zokova will also join the Ahmadabad post rockers in New Delhi, and indie rockers Inthenow in Bengaluru. The Pune show, however, is a stand-alone set for Aswekeepsearching.
Sarmah says their set will mostly comprise tracks off Zia, including possible live collaborations with contributors to the album like violinist Ajay Jayanthi in Mumbai and sitar player Rishabh Seen in New Delhi. “We might add couple of tracks from Khwaab. We are still working on designing the set and making it as interesting as possible. We’re working to create the same vibe of the album live,” says Sarmah.
