Australian Rock Act Wolfmother To Play In India Next Month
The trio make their India debut at Hard Rock Café, Mumbai and BITS-Pilani Hyderabad
Some of the biggest Indian rock bands swear by college fests and how they’ve played some of their best shows on campuses. Of late, colleges have also hosted the best international rock and metal concerts that the country has witnessed. We’ve seen the likes of English psychedelic rock act Porcupine Tree, British metalcore act Architects, Swedish progressive metal band Opeth, Australian prog rock band Karnivool and British prog metal band Tesseract over the past few years. BITS-Pilani Hyderabad’s annual cultural festival Pearl, which has previously brought down Swedish melodic death metallers Dark Tranquility [February, 2011] and British psychedelic prog rock act Amplifier [March, 2013] now add Wolfmother to their list of performers. Wolfmother will perform at the festival on the March 8th, along with earlier gigs at Hard Rock Café [Worli], Mumbai on March 5th and Hard Rock Cafe, New Delhi on March 7th.
The Aussie rock trio broke through with their self-titled debut album in 2005 with songs such as the soundtrack-friendly “Joker & the Thief” and the Grammy award-winning “Woman.” Since their rise to fame in 2008, the band has been through multiple lineup changes – replacing four drummers in six years. Vocalist-guitarist Andrew Stockdale even took a break from Wolfmother himself last year, releasing a solo album, Keep Moving.
With two albums [Wolfmother in 2005 and Cosmic Egg in 2009] and one [Keep Moving, 2013] under Stockdale’s name, the current lineup, comprising Stockdale, Ian Perez [bass, keyboards] and Vin Steele [drums], plan on releasing their third album this year.
Catch Wolfmother live at Hard Rock Café on March 5th [Worli, Mumbai] and March 7th [New Delhi] and at BITS-Pilani Hyderabad on March 8th. More details here.
