South Korean group BTS confirmed the title and release date of their upcoming LP last night on Twitter. Love Yourself 轉 ‘Tear is set for a May 18th release and is the follow-up to the septet’s 2017 EP, Love Yourself 承 ”˜Her’.

The announcement follows the video for “Euphoria: Theme of Love Yourself Wonder,” a solo track by the group’s vocalist Jungkook. The video was filled with flashbacks to the group’s previous eras The Most Beautiful Moment In Life (2015) and WINGS (2016), serving as confirmation to many fans that the album will have a role perpetuating the four-year long narrative within BTS’ carefully-crafted fictional universe.

The group’s leader RM told us last year that with each release, the group tries to tell stories that are somewhat rooted in their real lives. “We’re always [discussing] our experiences, our hardships and our sadness and that really helps in coming up with the character in the videos,” he explained.

Love Yourself 轉 ‘Tear will be available for pre-order on April 18th. Last year, Love Yourself 承 ”˜Her’ racked up more than 1.05 million within a week in sales of physical copies through pre-order alone, a testament to the group’s unstoppable growth in popularity. The EP went on to hit Number One on the iTunes charts of over 63 countries upon release, India included. BTS’ rapper and main dancer J-Hope’s solo mixtape Hope World sky-rocketed to Number One on the iTunes album charts of 75 countries followed closely by the group’s Japanese album Face Yourself which came out on April 4th.

With these figures, there is no doubt BTS’ first full-length LP since 2016 will see similar if not greater commercial success. In our previous conversation with the group, they revealed they had a goal of making it on the Billboard Hot 100 as high as possible, something that seems well within reach today. “We’d need a lot of radio plays and streaming to achieve this goal,” they had shared in a joint statement. “Which means we should release really great new songs for people to listen to, stream and download.”
