It’s only been a few hours since the release of Camila Cabello’s debut album Camila but it’s already smashed several records, and now has the distinction for the most Number Ones on iTunes for a debut album””previously held by Harry Style’s eponymous 2017 debut.

Released on January 12th, 2018, Camila includes Cabello’s 2017 breakout single “Havana” feat. Young Thug and her most recent single “Never Be the Same.” The LP is a blend of pop, R&B and Latin flavors, playing on Cabello’s Cuban roots and carving a powerful solo identity for the ex-Fifth Harmony member. The 11-track LP is vulnerable and expansive, addressing the vocalist’s struggles with friendship, love and self-discovery.

While Cabello had initially planned on naming the album The Hurting, The Healing, The Loving, she announced the title-change to Camila in December, stating, “I decided to call it by my name, because this is where this chapter in my life ended. It started with somebody else’s story, it ended with me finding my way back to myself.”

Camila is the only debut album by a female artist to reach Number One on iTunes in over 80 countries and is, as of this article, Number One in 96 nations including India. If the figure crosses 100, it will join the likes of Ed Sheeran’s Divide, Beyonce’s Lemonade, Adele’s 25 and Taylor Swift’s Reputation.
