After months of ‘will they, or won’t they?’, Coldplay have finally confirmed that they will indeed be coming down to India to play for their fans. The band is all geared up to be headlining the first-ever Global Citizen Festival in India on November 19th.

Fans need not worry about outrageous ticket prices as they will be available for free. Interested attendees will have to ‘earn’ their tickets by showing their support in the fields of education, equality and sanitation campaigns. To stand a chance to earn a ticket, fans will have to sign up to become a ‘Global Citizen’ and accomplish the necessary requirements of the festival’s campaigns. Tickets to the Global Citizen Festival can be earned from Monday onwards.

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin has committed to the Global Citizen Festival until 2030. The whole initiative of the festival is to make people aware of basic areas of life that need to be dealt with and resolved.

Excerpts from the official statement:

“On Monday we’re so excited to be announcing that on World Toilet Day — November 19th — we’re hosting the first-ever Global Citizen Festival in India, with an incredible lineup of international and Indian headliners including … Coldplay! Just like our annual festival in Central Park, tickets to the Indian Festival will be FREE. Fans will earn them through taking actions in support of education, equality, and sanitation campaigns.

Starting Monday, tickets to the Global Citizen Festival in India can be earned through the new platform by signing up to become a Global Citizen and completing the festival’s action campaigns at GlobalCitizen.IN
