The first thing Chennai pop/rock artist Harsha Iyer says about his new single, “Unconditional Love,” is that he’s started on a new journey. The last release from Iyer was in November last year, with the single “Until It Was Gone,” supposedly part of When It’s Time (part two), the follow up to his 2012 album.

But now, with “Unconditional Love,” a track inspired by watching a talk given by the Dalai Lama online, Iyer says there will be no part two of When It’s Time. “I’ve actually started work on a completely different guitar-oriented third record,” says Iyer, “The Dalai Lama basically discussed the ideas of obtaining real peace of mind in today’s fast modern world and the idea of living in harmony consciously so that there’s happiness not for just for us and our loved ones but for beings all around us and how we’re all connected universally really. That’s pretty much what I wanted to reflect through the happy sounds and sweet melodies and lush arrangements and production details.”

The two-and-a-half-minute instrumental track “Unconditional Love,” showcases Iyer’s drift towards composing cinematic pieces of music using orchestral arrangements. “On the surface, it’s a pretty fun, neat little track to just chill to as well.”

Iyer adds he has already started recording around 10 songs for his next album. Says Iyer, “It will be a lot more uplifting like this track.”
