American death metal band Dying Fetus will make their India debut in Shillong on June 7th, as headliners at the first edition of rain Revolt: Shillong Open Air. The band, comprising vocalist-guitarist John Gallagher, vocalist-bassist Sean Beasley and drummer Trey Williams, have released seven albums and are currently working on their next full-length album.

The festival, which was announced in January this year, will also include Nepal metal band Underside, Aizawl death metal band Third Sovereign, Bengaluru progressive metalcore band Cheisrah and Shillong death metallers Plague Throat. While Underside are also making their India debut at Rain Revolt, Third Sovereign are breaking out of their three-year hiatus and recording a follow-up to their debut 2007 album Destined To Suffer.

In 2012, Shillong hosted Danish death metal band Dawn of Demise at the second edition of Rebel County, but this will be the first annual metal festival taking place in Shillong. Says organizer Rishi Joshi Ranee Syngai, “Mostly, bands from older generations used to come here [Shillong]. But even modern metal has a huge fan following.”  Syngai and Bengaluru-based event organizer Amarjeet Karam have teamed up with Edgenda in Shillong, who have previously organized events for private companies in the city. While the full lineup has been announced, watch this space for ticketing details, which are yet to be confirmed.
