Indian-born, Detroit-raised producer Akhil Sesh ups the eeriness in his artistry with a new music video for “Black Jesus.”

The psychedelic clip follows the producer as he walks and raps through the streets of Detroit and Tokyo, switching between the two cities with exaggerated zoom-ins and flashing iridescent light contrasts. Sesh is often in slow motion or standing still as people brush past him, matching the dazed, dark vibe of the track.

“I wanted to showcase not only the reality of the lyrics but also the nomadic nature of my lifestyle,” he explains about the concept. “Regardless of which hemisphere inhabited, the energetic street vibes remain constant and the dark, futuristic backdrop of Shinjuku Red Light district aesthetically pairs itself perfect with the rumbling sonics of [the track.]”

“Black Jesus” is a single off Sesh’s debut LP Free My Shooter and stands out in his discography with its haunting blend of what sounds like Carnatic violin with slow, rolling trap. Sesh first gained fame last year thanks to his debut single “Extravagance” which paired his high-pitched vocals with deep bass drops.
