Watch: Franks Got the Funk’s “Land of the Dreamer”
The Chennai alt/funk rockers take us through their city in their first music video
When you’ve got an ode to Chennai like alt rock band Franks Got the Funk’s single “Land of the Dreamer,” then it’s only fitting that the video for the song is set in Besant Nagar beach, one of the biggest landmarks in the city. Director Karuna Vishwanath [who was also part of the collective that directed Bengaluru folk rock band Swarathma’s video for “Rang Zinda Hain”] takes the city with a “fortune of a million lives” and gives it a dose of sunshine through a little boy carrying a pinwheel.
While “Land of the Dreamer” was released as a single in May, their debut full-length, The Next Level, was due back in September. Bassist Sajith Satya, who plays a cop with killer sideburns in the video, says the 10-track album will be released after the band releases two more singles, with their next offering, “The Walk,” slated for release in February next year. Until then, there’s vocalist Bjorn Surrao’s sing-along hook “Multiply and sing/Diversify and sing” set to Marina Beach and shots of the band performing at Besant Nagar auditorium, Spaces.
