Mumbai hard rock duo Soul Bridge’s self-titled debut has been a long while in the making. “We’ve been planning to write and release songs for the past two years,” says guitarist Karan Dubey, who was later joined by vocalist Anurag Sharma after holding auditions in New Delhi. They moved to Mumbai in October last year, starting work on the album in earnest. “I wrote riffs, melodies and arrangement for new material, which was reinforced by Anurag’s lyrics. We recorded the demos at home,” says Dubey. Soul Bridge’s studio and live lineup is completed by bassist Rohit Sharma and former Sky Rabbit drummer Vinayak Pol.

Dubey credits sessions drummers Gino Banks and Jai Row Kavi for assisting and introducing Pol to Soul Bridge. “At the time, we were looking for a drummer to help with the pre-production and studio sessions for tracking the album,” says Dubey.

The first track from their debut, “Broken Lies,” released last week. A five-minute hard rock ballad “Broken Lies” includes a chorus fired by distortion, lyrics about betrayal and a shred-tastic guitar solo thrown in for good measure. After recording with producer Shantanu Hudlikar at YRF studios, Soul Bridge is now getting their self-titled debut mixed and mastered by American producer and sound engineer Chris Flores, who has previously worked with the likes of Slash and Fergie.

Soul Bridge plans to release their six-track full-length album around October this year.  Dubey adds the band has also plans to release another single next month and gig in June and July in India, followed by a tour across US and Europe at the end of the year.
