UK virtual electronic heroes Gorillaz famously operate their musical life in 2D, but come February, fans will be able to get their hands on some nifty real-world merchandise via limited edition Converse Chuck Taylors designed by the fantasy band’s co-creator Jamie Hewlett.

By now, you’re probably familiar with Hewlett’s trademark aesthetic ”“ the gritty drawing style used to bring the Gorillaz lineup to life: Noodle, Russel Hobbs, Murdoc, and the appropriately named lead vocalist, 2D. Each of Hewlett’s four designs for Converse will reflect the members’ individual idiosyncracies as well as the group’s unified post-industrial look. The sneak peak Converse offers, the camouflage print shoe at the left, is a throwback to the artwork featured on the band’s self-titled debut album, released ten years ago.

To commemorate the decade-long milestone, Gorillaz will also release their first greatest hits package, “Singles Collection: 2001-2011,” on November 28th. In February, they will release a new song with Converse as part of the companys’s ongoing “Three Artists, One Song” campaign. Meanwhile, Hewlett’s partner-in-crime Damon Albarn just released a experimental collaborative album, Kinshasa One Two, which he recorded in the Congo.
