For most bands in India, band competitions are stepping stones to a bigger stage. The fourth edition of Harley Rock Riders finale, will be one big platform for the three finalists ”“ Chennai-based Grey Shack, Guwahati glam metallers Filharmonix and Delhi experimental metal band, Third Eye Destruction ”“ chosen from 130 entries received since August this year. The finale, which is slated to take place on October 12th at Mumbai’s Mehboob Studio and features Mumbai rockers Overhung, Chennai alt rockers Junkyard Groove and headlining act, Shaa’ir and Func, will also be the debut Mumbai gig for the three upcoming acts. One of the three bands will be chosen to perform at the European Bike Week 2014 at Lake Faak in Austria in September next year.

Vocalist Rohan Sen of blues rock band, Grey Shack feels that his band’s music is accessible to most and may in turn give them an edge over others at the event. Adds Sen, “It did work well for us during college festivals where we were up against some metal bands, so I’m hoping it works this time as well.” Grey Shack will play songs from their 2012 debut, Step Outside. Assamese glam metal band Filharmonix, who maintained the top spot in terms of online voting since the start, is pleased to take their music to a newer audience. The band’s bassist Bedanga Sarma aka Ved says that they plan to bring some hard rock and heavy metal material on stage. For their 20-minute set, Filharmonix will perform tracks from their 2011 release Hot N High, including songs  such as “Love Machine” and “Spin n Shout.” Also making their Mumbai debut are Delhi experimental metal band, Third Eye Destruction, who rejigged their lineup to a five-piece setup in February this year. Third Eye Destruction are excited to play their first big show, having performed just smaller club gigs in Delhi. Vocalist Abhishek Balooni says that the band will perform originals such as “Waiting To Exhale,” a comment on the societal norms that this generation adheres to as well as other metal songs such as “Reforming I” and “Agony Plastered Within.” Adds Balooni, “We will be playing a lot of  stuff. Our material covers everything from experimental to death metal to thrash, so we want to bring in all those elements to the show.”
