Hear Elephante’s Upbeat Remix of Nathan Sykes’ ‘Over and Over Again’

“Nathan’s voice is out of this world,” producer tells Rolling Stone

Nathan Sykes’ piano ballad “Over and Over Again” transforms into a dancefloor banger thanks to Elephante’s upbeat, lush remix of the track. Over and Over Again: The Remixes will be out on November 21st. Listen to the exclusive premiere below.

“Nathan’s voice is out of this world, so it was a ton of fun working on this remix,” Elephante tells Rolling Stone of the track, which amplifies Sykes’ soaring vocals. “It’s such a soulful song, so I just tried to let that shine through and not mess up the original too badly.”

The remix is reminiscent of Sykes’ work with boy band the Wanted, whose sound was largely Eurodance- and house-influenced. More recently, however, he’s leaned towards a more Rat Pack”“y, big-band sound on singles “Kiss Me Quick” and “More Than You’ll Ever Know.” “Over and Over Again” is the most subdued preview yet of his as-yet-untitled solo debut.

“I’m very excited for people to hear the remix,” Sykes tells RS. “Even though the song is a piano ballad, I intentionally wrote the song at a tempo that would lend itself to a remix and I think he’s done a fantastic job.”

Next year, Sykes will join Little Mix on the U.K. leg of their Get Weird tour following a year of intermittent shows across the U.K. and U.S., previewing songs from his debut album. For a gig at Gramercy Theatre in July, the same NYC venue where the Wanted made their American debut in 2010, Sykes sold out the show in 10 minutes. “It’s been full circle,” he told RS over the summer. “The fact that I’ve been able to sell it out so quickly is just incredible. We didn’t do that with the Wanted.”
