Listen: Fat Yellow Moon’s Cheerful Single “Bending Blinders”
Mumbai singer-songwriter Abhishek Chandran’s acoustic track looks at the brighter side of things and urges one to “let it go”

Abhishek Chandran’s latest release is a song that the singer-songwriter hadn’t even considered recording. Until recently when his friend, producer Samar Mehdi, heard him play it on his acoustic guitar and immediately offered to do the honors.
Chandran, who goes by the moniker Fat Yellow Moon, says that the production for the catchy acoustic composition “Bending Blinder” took about two months. Talking about Mehdi’s contribution to the “low-key project,” Chandran says, “He knows what is more important in my song. All the parts after the chorus, the synth bits, were added by him.”
Lyrically, “Bending Blinder” explores the themes of regret, guilt and losing a loved one. “The natural human instinct is to either fight or run away from such situations. But sometimes in life it is better to let it go,” says Chandran, who has previously released a couple of demos and covers on SoundCloud and is currently working on his debut EP.
Explaining his choice of moniker, Chandran describes how back in college, he would stay up late at night to practice songs in his balcony, with only the moon as company. “It might be psychological but I felt like there’s some energy which I’m drawing from the moon.”
