Listen: Skyharbor’s New Single “Out Of Time”

The prog metallers give fans the first taste of new vocalist Eric Emery and drummer Aditya Ashok with studio material ahead of their North America debut

Aug 27, 2015

With prog metal band Skyharbor, the roller-coaster ride never stops. How else do you explain a new lineup and a new single within nine months of their last album? In June this year, the band officially parted ways with drummer Anup Sastry and vocalist Dan Tompkins due to their other engagements and recruited Cleveland-based singer and producer Eric Emery and Mumbai-based drummer Aditya Ashok.

Now they’ve given fans a taste of what they can expect from the new lineup, with a single called “Out of Time.” The song, which follows their November 2014 full-length album Guiding Lights, continues on the prog path, but does manage to get heavier than most of their last album. Emery is bringing the vocal hooks while Ashok goes all guns blazing behind the kit with nonstop riffage from guitarists Keshav Dhar and Devesh Dayal.

Dhar mentioned in a previous interview that they began recording “Out of Time” in July with the Delhi-based producer flying down to Mumbai to record drums with Ashok at Yash Raj Film Studios. Dhar had said, “We’re more than halfway through writing for the third album. It’s going really fast, but it’s going really well. We’re looking to finish everything by the first quarter of 2016.”

Also, last week, Skyharbor were announced as part of a 28-date North American tour with prog metal bands such as UK-based TesseracT [led by Tompkins on vocals], and American outfits The Contortionist and ERRA.
