After Pune, Bengaluru music fans have reason to cheer as Blue Frog opens up in the city. With performing venues such as The Humming Tree, Opus, CounterCulture, Indigo, B-Flat and Hard Rock Café, the new venue will have bands and gig goers spoilt for choice. Blue Frog is set to open some time in mid May on the bustling Church Street in Bengaluru.

Although the city is often labeled as a metal hub, Bengaluru is also home to some of the best known alt bands in the country including Thermal And A Quarter, some impressive electronica-fusion artists such as Sulk Station and psychedelic rock bands such as Parvaaz. Filmmaker Mahesh Mathai, one of the founding members of Bluefrog, Mumbai says, “You have to include local talent and singer-songwriters. There will be recognition of local tastes and performers. The (Bengaluru) club will also be a hundred per cent same as the Mumbai one in terms of sound and acoustics.”

While Bluefrog may not have had a great run with its Delhi and Chandigarh properties, Bengaluru may just be the best place for the club to thrive.
