The reason those artists are popular is because they produce more epic sounding dubstep than the rest. Excision wouldn’t have achieved so much if he didn’t diligently create those sounds that he uses not to mention the tempo’s of the songs in general. I’m a dubstep producer and let me tell you, if you don’t have good enough sounds or the creativity and time to make decent sounding tempo’s then you won’t get anywhere. You can give shit to artists as much as you want but that won’t change the fact that people will continue to listen to shitty music and make it popular. If you look at the itunes top 10 songs, the first one is Sexy and I Know It by LMFAO. This song is complete shit, its corny, and the lyrics are dumb as fuck, but it has a good beat, is catchy, and makes people happy.

I had the privilege of seeing caspa, rusko, mimosa, zeds dead, and skrillex this past year and I enjoyed each but skrillex even more then the others. There is a lot of terrible chat about Dub-step on here and all the comments are the same. Skrillex did not single handedly ruin Dubstep, admittedly it was a lot better back in the days of Skream Benga Rusko Bar 9 and Doorly. But that was different sound , more raw original and alot closer to its UK garage roots. It then began to progress to a much dirtier sound with the likes of datsik Borgore Doctor p riskoteq and then eventually skrillex, where it is a collection of pop house intro’s with a rather samey mish mash of high pitched modulated electro sounds and risers. Its not a bad thing , its just a progression of sound, although i do see how it is frustrating that it has gotten very old very quickly and fair enough have a couple of songs that sound like sweet shop or ice cream van, but totally taking over the genre..its a bit of a shame. We there need to be more songs like Man like me, Shaolin Style etc. But hey thats progression. It appears dubstep has had its time in the sun, The way i see it going is picking up tempo, getting less jumbled and hitting more organised drops and sinking somewhere gentley between Electro House and Fidget house, Which is alot more fun to dance to!! getting bored of slow bobbing and skanking!!! embrace the new sound and dont forget you still can lister to the old classics. IF YOU DONT LIKE SKRILLEX OR BEIBER DOING DUBSTEP THEN DON’T BUY IT , EACH TO THEIR OWN!

Most american djs aren’t doing the same dubstep that uk ones are, but that’s not necessarily bad. Producers like pantyraid, mimosa, vibesquad, and martyparty make some damn good music that you can call dubstep, but its more complex and harmonic than their uk counterparts. Some purists aren’t going to like that but that’s the case with every genre of music. Personally I like the american djs a little better. Not including skrillex or any of the repetitive garbage that gets churned out on the regular.

Skrillex sold his decks shortly after signing on to deadmau5′s record label. For a while all he has done is open his macbook, plug in a midi controller with some effects knobs and hit play. Fiddling with volume and gay effects knobs is what twelve year olds do to pretend to DJ. Now I will admit he is a good producer, not all great producers are good at mixing live, but the problem is that since his debut he hasn’t changed his formula. The first times i heard him when slats came out I was heavily into electro listening to MSTRKRFT and Justice and the sorts and I had only listened to ganja white knight for a taste of dubstep and I truly believed and still truly believe that Skrillex is NOT a dubstep producer and instead an electro producer. Still he hasn’t done anything except remix his original tunes and released them as original new tunes and therefore he isn’t a prodigy, he won’t become anything great, all he will do is rinse and repeat his forrmula for what worked for him at his debut and eventually run out of ideas, become stagnant, and lose any kind of following.

dubstep was not shit 2-3 years ago. yeah im an american, but i don’t like mainstream shit. it’s too much and dubstep became so huge and its gonna be like everything else in the world a giant FAD. i love dubstep but i hate the mainstream dubstep. i don’t like the mainstream and theres a bunch of jocks, and little kids listening to this . its too much..

lol, he’s a good producer, but not a producer of dubstep. he barely makes dubstep. he produces brostep and electro.. I must admit I don’t like these guy either cause he’s song is like 2 times the same, first you get a beat with some synths, then the second part is a faster beat, but with the same synths. and also IF JUSTIN BIEBER GOES DUBSTEP THEN THIS IS DEF 2012..

Skrillex is mainly good because he is mostly electro, not dubstep…just putting that out there…apart from that, his melodies are good. I do respect artists like skream ect more when it comes to dubstep, but damn he has good electro.
