Ray Ban Never Hide Sounds Announces Top Five Bands

Giving stage to emerging sounds, the Ray Ban Never Hide Sounds’ five-month long band hunt campaign came to an end. Consisting of a pre-selected jury of musicians like Suraj Jagan, Luke Kenny, Shibani Kashyap, Anaida and more alongside popular voting, five bands from an entry pool of 180 plus bands have won pole position.

Blek and Lightyears Explode from Mumbai, Digital Suicide from Guwahati, Fire Exit from New Delhi and Little Babooshka’s Grind from Chennai have made the final cut. The five will be performing live at the grand finale at Bandra Fort Amphitheatre on December 4. Pentagram and Something Relevant will headline the gig.

The finale was preceded by  four mall gigs and five open mic nights held across seven cities including Mumbai, New Delhi, Guwahati, Bangaluru, Kolkata, Chennai, Pune where 15 bands were shortlisted for the jury and public voting.

The winning bands will be also receiving musical instruments worth Rs 50,000 sponsored by Ray Ban.

SPD-SX Sampling Pad Now in India

Musicians in India can finally make their music richer with the launch of the SPD – SX sampling pad in the country. To take it on a test-drive,  a free for all workshop and gig is being organized to highlight the qualities of this unique groove box.

Japanese percussionist Masaking and Sivamani will show the various applications and sound of the new sampling pad. The duo will perform on the TD- 20KX – V drums and use the SPD- SX to create live loops.

Be there on February 9th, 2.30 pm at Hotel The Mirage,  Andheri (E).

Masaking will be taking the same session solo a day before on February 8th, 2 pm at Hotel Golden Park, Kolkata.
