If there’s one thing that can be said about Pune, it’s that they know how to throw a party. The Zippo Encore Pre-Show, held at the Tech Mahindra Campus, was a prime example of that, with fans screaming the lyrics out to every hit that night.

Rock band Euphony performed an electric opening set that set the pace for the night with covers of bands such as Steppenwolf and Goldspot, as well as their original song “Get Up And Rise.” Progressive rock band  band Coshish performed their album Firdous in entirety, including crowd favorites such as “Raastey,” “Maya” and “Rehna Do,” with a guest appearance by comedy rock band Workshop’s Aditya Kadam on bass guitar. Indie rock band Ankur & The Ghalat Family turned out to be the highlight of the night. Drummer Sidd Coutto switched up his role for the night, performing with a range of instruments from the harmonica to acoustic guitar. The band also premiered a new track, “Galatfehmiyan,” along with well-known set staples such as “Sabse Peeche Hum Khade” and “Mohabbat Zindabad.”

After a successful run of events in the US, the first edition of the Zippo Encore festival in the India will feature a lineup of electronica artists including Donn Bhat, Madboy/Mink and Shaa’ir and Func, who made it to the cover of Rolling Stone India this month. It’s free entry for a lineup that will always call for an encore.
