Young Canadian rock band The Sheepdogs are ready with their self-titled debut album, which is due to release on September 4th, 2012 on Atlantic Records. They premiered their first single from the album, “The Way It Is” exclusively on ROLLING STONE.

The barely-year old band have racked up some miles on tour and worked with Austin Scaggs and the Black Keys’ Patrick Carney to produce their major label debut album, filled with the guitar-driven, harmonic sounds that have been central to their music.

Frontman Ewan Currie explains that he “wanted to do a song that had a big nasty strut. Nothing packs a punch like a two-note riff. It’s lean and mean.”

“The Way It Is,” available to stream exclusively here.
