The Idea

With the Cover as Art project coming of age with its fourth anniversary this March, I wanted to have a go at something completely different from the ”˜Heavy Metal’ style artwork I’m generally known for. This is my ”˜Pop Art’ tribute to who I think is India’s answer to Chuck Norris, the true cult hero, Rajnikanth. An icon on the cover of an iconic magazine.

The underlying theme to this idea is the legend that he rose from being a mere ticket collector on Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation buses to godlike uber-stardom, a rags to riches story that rings true in every Indian’s heart, as we all struggle through the chaos for our place in the sun.
