Ritviz Offers Dubstep and Indian Classical on New EP
Pune music producer’s latest EP ‘Yuv’ is a follow-up to the 2014 debut ‘Vizdumb’
It’s not a far stretch when Ritviz Srivastava jokes that “if the songs were people living together, it would be hard for them to survive.” On his latest EP Yuv, the 20-year-old Pune-based producer packs in sounds as diverse as a techno-driven thumper (“Bali”) to Hindustani-inspired melodies (“Taan”) to straight-up dubstep (“Yuv”) on each of the four tracks.
A follow-up to 2014’s debut EP Vizdumb [released on the UK recording label Relentik Records], Yuv was produced entirely in a home setup using music producer go-to equipment like a MIDI controller and production interface Ableton Live, but mostly what Srivastava refers to as his “computer keyboard”. The EP comes after almost two years of working and reworking samples, melodies and soundscapes. Says Srivastava, “The sounds that I’ve used in the EP and the way I’ve presented them–I spent a lot of time trying to think about what I can call my sound.”
Srivasatava hits the road over the next two months to promote the four-track party starter.
