Seedhe Maut Release 6-Minute SOS Response Diss ‘TT / Shutdown’
The rap duo has ‘entered the chat’

If this year’s conflict-ridden hip hop wasn’t satisfactory enough for Indian fans, Delhi rap royalty Seedhe Maut has, without any doubt or hesitation, “entered the chat”. In a direct response to the Straight Outta Srinagar track ‘Blackball’ released on Tuesday (June 25), the hip-hop duo dropped the track “TT / Shutdown” within 24 hours of the Kashmiri artists. Written and produced by Calm (Siddhant Sharma) and Encore ABJ (Abhijay Negi), the six-minute diss is a bar-by-bar address towards the claims and allegations made by Straight Outta Srinagar (SOS).
In what is perhaps the clearest and most straightforward representation of the two rappers’ battle roots, the track “TT / Shutdown” is a precise and relentless barrage of disses.
With bars indicating the lack of popularity that the Srinagar duo Syed Arsalan (aka AATANKKI) and Tufail Nazir have in comparison to the Delhi juggernauts, Seedhe Maut implies that they are single-handedly responsible for the Kashmiri duo’s success. “SOS naam tujhpe sahi bhi jachta hai // Itna mat baj tujhe koi nahi sunta hai”.
They further go on with Calm capitalizing on the SOS members-as-fanboys narrative, recalling Aatankki’s first time on stage in front of him with the duo having frequently been involved with cyphers in their early days. The track takes a much more cutthroat turn though, with former Delhi group Teesri Duniya catching a stray, “tu jaise teesri duniya having fun with kids”, referencing the recent allegations of one of the members of the hip hop group messaging and fraternizing with minors.
Rolling Stone India has reached out to Teesri Duniya and SOS’s management for comment.
The political and evidently anti-Kashmir sentiments are the immediate highlight, however. “Laash teri rahegi gayab ramzaan tak” as perhaps a reference to dead bodies of Kashmiri civilians in encounter cases remaining hidden or missing from their families. “Ek diss phekunga, Launde khaayenge UAPA” as a reference to the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act which is aimed at the prevention of unlawful activities associations, commonly used now to encroach and limit the gathering of targeted communities.
TT / Shutdown does, however, have its moments of cringe, let’s not kid ourselves. “Tu-fail hai, beta sotela hai, beta bas chela hai” and “tu cartoon cockroach jaise oggy” (referencing the children’s cartoon Oggy and the Cockroaches).
That being said, it’s a long-awaited treat for Seedhe Maut fans to truly witness the Delhi duo’s lyricism when put to the actual test. This story is still developing.
