Guitarist-vocalist Samron Jude still can’t stop gushing about his band Systemhouse33’s debut international sojourn, playing a 10-date Europe tour in December supporting American death metal band Six Feet Under. The frontman says, “Europe was a life-changing experience. It changes how you think about being in a band and making music.”

Regression, which released on January 31st, is the band’s fifth album and a scale up in terms of production value and songwriting, featuring eight polished thrash metal tracks with guitar grooves to bob along to. With the lead single “Detestable Idolatry” released a couple of weeks ago, Systemhouse33 are launching the album at the second edition of Pune gig series Reverse Scenario on February 21st at Classic Rock Coffee Co. Jude adds, “There’s a lot of hype for this gig and we’re really excited to play in Pune. There’s a 45-minute set time and we’re playing the entire album, just like we did on our Europe tour.” The band is sharing space with the likes of Mumbai metallers Bhayanak Maut. Jude recalls the two bands last shared a stage together about 10 years ago at Delhi’s erstwhile pub venue Turquoise Cottage, alongside then-active Pondicherry nu-metal band Medicis. Jude adds, “It’s always great to play with bands you’ve grown with.”

Similar to their Europe tour, drummer Mayank Sharma [from thrash/groove metallers Zygnema] will join Systemhouse33 on drums, filling in for Atish Thomas, who is busy with prior commitment to rock band The Other People. Jude mentions his band also has another show in Chennai in the works, but their main aim is to return to touring internationally. Booked for a May appearance at the Mother’s Day Metal Festival in Cupertino, California alongside their Europe tourmates, American melodic death metallers Short Fuse, Jude says they are in talks to join in the second half of a tour with death metal band Dying Fetus in May. Jude adds, “We just don’t want to stop the momentum. But this is an U.S. tour so it’s something we want to plan well.”

Systemhouse33 performs at Reverse Scenario on February 21st, at Classic Rock Coffee Co, Pune. Event details here.
