The Hot List 2016: Prateek Kuhad (Singer-Songwriter)

Breezy acoustic pop we’ve been waiting for so long

With his debut album In Tokens & Charms named Indian Indie Album of the Year 2015 by iTunes this past January, New Delhi singer-songwriter Prateek Kuhad started 2016 with pretty much a bang.

Performances in Australia, Canada, the U.S.A. and the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix that followed proved that it isn’t India that is crazy about Kuhad’s brand of unhurried acoustic pop. He also bagged the MTV EMA for Best India Act last month. For the young musician however, there’s no place like home.

“I loved playing the live shows in Mumbai and Delhi the most.”

“I loved playing the live shows in Mumbai and Delhi the most,” he says about his sold-out auditorium concerts in both cities in September. “It was great because I could really connect to the audience.” Kuhad, who was also a guest on #RollingWith in October, is now working on new material and planning more intimate gigs in India.
