We know Mumbai-based filmmaker Bejoy Nambiar is no stranger to working with India’s alternative music scene – whether it’s tapping metal band Bhayanak Maut to use their 2009 song “Ranti Nasha” for his 2011 film Shaitan or roping in Mumbai alt rockers Modern Mafia [“Arnie” became “Bandhay”] and punk rock band The Lightyears Explode [“Three Kills” aka “Kunj Gutka”] for his 2013 film David.

This time around, while Nambiar had used Delhi fusion band Advaita’s song “Mo Funk” for his latest release Wazir, he’s teamed up with Kochi fusion rock/metal band Thaikkudam Bridge to craft one intense visual experience for their song “Aarachar,” off their 2015 debut album Navarasam.

The video, shot in various color tones, also stars actor Aditi Rao Hydari [who was part of the lead cast in Wazir] in a somewhat mysterious titular role as demons and executioners run amok a castle [shot on location on the outskirts of Mumbai]. The visuals tie in with the band’s message of building empires and still facing the aarachar [Malayalam for “hangman”], with spoken word verses from vocalist Govind P Menon.

The frontman and founder of the band says, “Working with Bejoy is such a pleasure. We became way closer after this shoot. The shoot day was hectic, he shot all this in one day. He was real fire on set. It was a fairy tale kinda experience.”
