If you love intimate gigs, here are shows you must attend this month and the next
If you attended the Mumbai singer-songwriter pairing of Ramya Pothuri and Aarifah’s recent gig at city-based venue The Little Door, you were lucky to catch a glimpse of the upcoming Summer Break Tour. Pothuri and Aarifah — both part of rock/blues/jazz band Ladies Compartment — are slated to perform three house gigs on their travels, plus two club shows. Take it from experience that Pothuri’s music is best heard in an intimate setting with her melancholic sound while Aarifah’s lush and breezy melodies will offer balance to the setting.

Earlier this year, Mumbai singer-songwriter Sri aka Srijit Bhowmick released his debut crowdfunded EP The Only Find. Since then, the musician has played over 19 shows including house gigs programmed by Sofar Sounds and House Concert to support the EP. Sri is currently on the road plotting more shows for the rest of this month and June.

Hyderabad-based singer-songwriter Sidharth Bendi’s ongoing house gig tour in the city is a way for him to connect with listeners more, beyond the music. The musician, who released his debut EP One in a Million in 2017, will conduct a Q&A session with attendees, have conversations about hardships people face and also talk about mental health at his performances.

The second edition of community art and travel company Motojojo Co.’s tour series Ghumakkadi Kalakaar features Mumbai musician Bryan Ernest for his Kiss The Rain Tour. The singer-songwriter, who has already completed six shows out of 12, is performing as a one-man band playing kick drum, tambourine and guitar all at the same time. Catch him on the remaining run of shows through to May 26th.
