5 Things to Expect at the Dream Theater Show

The American prog rockers will make their India debut this October

Mumbai-based events agency Opium Events announced today that they will be bringing down American prog rockers Dream Theater for their India debut. The group are all set to perform in Mumbai on October 8th at MMRDA grounds as part of their “Images, Words & Beyond” 25th Anniversary World Tour.

We’ve listed five things we think you can expect at the Dream Theater show:

1. Tons of their own gear; 9,000 kgs to be exact, which includes side fills, sound console, monitors, amps, microphones and cables. “The band are very particular about their sound. The only thing we are giving is the PA and stage,” says organizer Cyrus Gorimar from Opium Events.

2. An army of black T-shirt wearing, tear-shedding middle-aged men shouting for the ultimate request: ”˜Metropolis, Pt. 1: The Miracle and the Sleeper”

3. DT can still bring the heavy when they perform live but more than riffs, everyone knows there’ll be solos all around, so don’t be surprised if there’s a circle pit when Jordan Rudess brings out a blazing solo from his 360° setup that slants and rotates at his will.

4. This setlist.

5. If you’ve ever seen that meme about what a Dream Theater moshpit would look like, then you know that for every headbanger, there will be complete geeks just counting on their fingers and mentally calculating time signatures.
