South Korea’s strongest YouTube cover influencer xooos has released her debut single “Naked.” The song comes two weeks after the singer announced her exclusive contract with wavy, a music label founded by Korean R&B artist Colde.

xooos’ first-ever single tells a gripping story of stepping out of one’s comfort zone to forge a new identity: “Let’s just all get naked/ I’m sick of all the hesitation/ Let’s do whatever we decide to/ Name it/ We got no limitations.” The song is about “breaking out of the egg, which symbolizes my room, and into the world,” xooos explained via a press statement. The track’s chill R&B and pop soundscape blend beautifully with the singer’s honeyed vocals, transporting listeners to a realm of serendipity. It is a near perfect track to cement xooos’ foundation in the Korean R&B space.

The music video is reflective of the track’s lyricism and shows xooos’ rebirth, of sorts. It opens with the singer submerged in a swimming pool, sinking with her eyes shut close. What follows next is a lively montage showing an exuberant xooos enjoying some quality time with her friends and embarking on a solo cruise along the highway. The memories of all her actions can be perceived as a hearty farewell to her past self – a notion that can be depicted through the concluding scenes where she resurfaces from the depths of the swimming pool, ready to enter the new world free and be herself.

Backed by her YouTube dominance, xooos found fame through covers uploaded to her YouTube channel. Some of her popular covers include Charlie Puth’s “Lightswitch” that has surpassed 33 million views on the platform. The singer recently uploaded the cover of Lukas Graham’s “7 Years” and has crossed 329,000 views. xooos joins wavy’s impressive roster of artists and producers such as Basecamp, Jiwoo, Ahn Byung-woong and Khakii.
