Mumbai composer Rishabh Shah’s new song “Tere Jaisa” comes through as a sweeping, cinematic ballad, with vocalist Junaid Ahmed leading the way, along with guitarist Vinayak Salvi and lyrics by Rishi Upadhyay.

Shah, who has had notable projects like music for the 2021 romance anthology film Ankahi Kahaniya on Netflix, says he wanted to “capture the intensity of love in its purest form” on his latest release.

He adds in a description for the song on YouTube, “At its core, the song explores the paradox of love—how, in losing oneself entirely to another, one finds their true existence. The lyrics poetically express the lover’s journey of searching the vastness of the world—from drops of water to the expanse of deserts—only to realize that no one compares to the beloved. She stands as a singular, irreplaceable force in his life, unmatched and beyond comparison.”

The composer, who has been active for about a decade now, brings his Western classical training to the front, while retaining the Indian music storytelling elements that anyone working in the soundtrack space would be familiar with. The track is mixed by Ajinkya Dhapare at The Sonic Station and mastered by Gethin John at Hafod Mastering in Wales

A press release adds, “In a world that often focuses on self-fulfillment, ‘Tere Jaisa’ reminds us that true fulfillment comes from surrendering to love completely. It’s about finding depth in connection and expressing emotions that are both deeply personal and universally relatable.”
