Hybe Expands Global Footprint with New Indian Subsidiary
Hybe takes a major step into India with the launch of its Mumbai office, marking a new era for the country’s music industry
Hybe India Entertainment Private Limited, aka Hybe India, the fifth global headquarters for the entertainment giant, has officially launched in Mumbai.
In a strategic initiative, Hybe, home to K-pop sensations like BTS, Tomorrow X Together, Enhypen, and more, aims to connect the Indian entertainment industry to the global music scene. It’s also an attempt to consolidate its presence in the country and underscore its commitment to tapping into the massive Indian market.
Following headquarters in Japan, America, Latin America, and China, Hybe India’s mission statement, “Where voices of India become global stories,” will focus on scouting local talents and helping them reach a global audience.
India’s music streaming market boasts around 185 million users. In its press statement, Hybe says that “India’s music streaming market is the second-largest in the world, making it the perfect market to implement our growth strategy,” adding that it sees huge potential here, given the “remarkable rise of K-pop in India.”
Hybe India will leverage its extensive music expertise, “Hybe’s 360-degree capabilities,” covering the entire spectrum of the industry, from discovering and developing new artists to production, artist management, and novel marketing strategies.
To foster local talent, Hybe India will roll out a training and development program (T&D) that’s tailored to the Indian music scene, using auditions to spot fresh and emerging artists and giving them all the support they need. The program will also back Hybe Music Group artists as they perform and engage with fans across the region.
As part of Hybe’s “multi-home, multi-genre” strategy, Hybe India will essentially zero in on building businesses that reflect cultures and traits of the region as well as the local market through innovative concepts and creative solutions.
