Madonna Announces Collaboration With Avicii
Singer spills the news over Instagram
Madonna’s got something in the works with Avicii. The material girl announced an upcoming collaboration with the EDM star on Friday night over Instagram, sending out a photo of herself cleaning her bathroom while dressed in black fishnets with the caption, “Doing some house work after 4 hours of sleep which is why i cant spell! On my way to the studio to work with Avicii!”
It’s not yet clear what form the collaboration will take, but Madonna revealed to the Canadian Press last month that she was planning a new album. “Yes, plans are in the works already. Don’t ask me with who, it’s a secret, top secret,” Madonna told the news agency.
This wouldn’t be the first pairing of the two artists. In 2012, Madonna made a surprise appearance at Miami’s Ultra Music Festival to introduce the Swedish DJ and his remix of her MDNA single, “Girl Gone Wild.”
While Madonna’s been keeping busy this year with a load of high-profile appearances (including Miley Cyrus’ MTV Unplugged concert, the Grammys and the Amnesty International benefit concert), Avicii’s been on something of a hot streak himself, with the massive success of his first album, True and the EDM-country-hybrid single, “Wake Me Up.” The DJ otherwise known as Tim Bergling recently spoke with ROLLING STONE about what he looks for in a collaborator. “I’m pretty open-minded: I just look for talent,” he said. “I can work with singers, but I get along better with other songwriters because it’s a more creative environment. I’m very particular about certain things. Melody, I’m a super control freak. But rhythms and lyrics, I let go a lot more.”
