Prior to the release of "Favorite Boys," A.C.E dropped a series of breathtaking concept photos exploring various themes and looks.
South Korean quintet A.C.E returned today with the music video for their new song “Favorite Boys.” The track is the lead single off their fourth EP (HJZM): The Butterfly Phantasy earlier today and the visuals seem to dive into themes of Asian folklore. Prior to the release of the single and music video, the group dropped a series of breathtaking concept photos to promote the EP, exploring various themes and looks with each new set of pictures.
In the video for “Favorite Boys,” A.C.E deliver outstanding displays of fashion, makeup and choreography, presenting androgynous, modern yet mystical interpretations of various characters from Asian folktales or mythology. The members also wear unique makeup looks that incorporate glitter and bold blends of colorful eyeshadow to complement their vibrant costumes that comprise crop tops, modern, customized Hanboks, traditional costumes and military-esque jackets. A.C.E show off their signature high-energy and dynamic moves in the choreography-focused clip.
“Favorite Boys” is an upbeat, anthemic house and synth pop track, with soaring vocals and fiery rap verses. Leader and lead vocalist Jun stuns in particular with his effortless high notes. (HJZM): The Butterfly Phantasy comprises a total of five tracks and will be released on September 2nd at 2:30 pm IST.
A.C.E debuted in 2017 with the single “Cactus” and comprise five members, Jun Donghun, Wow, Kim Byeongkwan and Chan. This is their first comeback in nearly a year following 2019’s EP Under Cover: The Mad Squad and its title track “Savage.”
