The single leads the singer-songwriter's latest nine-track album 'Blanc'
Korean-Canadian singer-songwriter Junny.
Adored by thousands of fans for his songwriting and dulcet vocals, Korean-Canadian singer-songwriter Junny returns to the spotlight with a brand new album and music video. Accompanied by a music video, “Not About You” leads the singer’s first studio album Blanc.
Written by Junny, Iryo, Sutt and No2zcat (who has also been credited as a producer), “Not About You” is a rhythmic pop single enhanced by a dreamy synth and percussion-guitar arrangement. Junny employs his signature breathy vocalizations, further intensifying the sonic appeal of the track. Singing about the highs and lows of a relationship, the protagonist of the song takes a bold stand as he confronts his former significant other and sets the record straight; “I hope this song reaches you/ I want you to feel/ I want you to feel your shame/ I’ll tell you once/ I’m done with us.”
The music video opens with Junny in a picturesque museum where his path crosses with a charming young woman. As suggested by an adorable montage of sweet memories in the music video, love quickly blossoms between the two. From gaming sessions to birthday surprises and snuggled movie nights on the couch; Things were looking promising until a misunderstanding ruins the fairytale romance. According to Junny’s Instagram live session, the music video highlights the importance of communication in a relationship and is inspired by his first love.
In an earlier interview with Rolling Stone India, Junny detailed his experience working on the album, expectations and more. “I’m proud of these songs, and you can expect new sounds and stories that I’ve never tried,” he shared on what fans could expect from his album. He continued, “But I’m considering it to be a representation of who I am as an artist and what you can expect from me in the future!”
Lead by “Not About You,” Blanc contains the pre-release singles “Get Ya!” featuring rapper pH-1 and “Color Me” featuring Chung Ha. Other tracks include “Mercury”, “Obvious”, “Mugshot”, “Just a Number”, “Boyhood”, and “Oh!”. To promote his album, Junny will be going on tour. The North American leg of the tour is scheduled to kick-start on September 4th in LA. With 11 stops, the tour will conclude in Montreal, Canada on September 16th.
