A Modern-Day ‘Notting Hill’: Inside Lisa’s New Movie Role

Born from a bond on the set of ‘The White Lotus,’ the Blackpink star’s new project brings a fresh twist to a classic romance.

Lisa is taking her acting talents to Netflix, starring in her first lead role in an English film, as well as serving as executive producer. The project draws inspiration from the 1999 classic Notting Hill, bringing a fresh twist to the “famous star meets ordinary person” trope. With American screenwriter and film producer Katie Silberman, a BAFTA award winner and the pen behind rom-com hits including Set It Up (2018), writing the script, the dialogue promises sharp, contemporary wit, something Silberman is known for. And while we wait for details such as the title and co-stars to be announced, the excitement for this “Lalisa Rom-Com” is already building.

Interestingly, this movie is actually a bit of a passion project, which came together while Lisa was filming her first-ever role for HBO’s The White Lotus Season 3 (2025). On the sets, she and producer David Bernad hit it off over their mutual love for classic romances, which eventually led to this creative reunion for Netflix. Lisa’s debut as Mook, a wellness mentor at a luxury resort in Thailand, was well received, and having a director like Mike White appreciating her acting skills definitely didn’t hurt. That positive response seems to have given her the momentum to move past a supporting role and really see what she can bring to the screen.

On top of her rom-com news, Lisa is also working on Tygo, a gritty Korean action thriller on Netflix. It’s actually a spin-off set in the same world as the Extraction movies (from 2020 and 2023), and she’s starring next to heavyweights like Ma Dong-seok (Don Lee) and Lee Jin-uk. Lisa is playing Ria, a key mission partner to Ma Dong-seok’s character, a mercenary named Tygo. The plot takes off when Ria is kidnapped by a syndicate boss named Arman Choi (played by Lee Jin-uk), sparking a dangerous rescue mission. The film is expected to feature intense action sequences, a perfect fit for Lisa, who mentioned that being in an action movie has always been a dream of hers.

But Lisa isn’t just focusing on the big screen; she’s still very much the pop icon and is currently preparing for Blackpink‘s highly anticipated comeback. The group is set to release their new mini-album, titled Deadline, which is officially scheduled to arrive on Feb. 27, 2026.
