Singer-composer was admitted to a private hospital on Mar. 16, 2025 for dehydration symptoms

Indian music legend A.R. Rahman was admitted to a hospital in Chennai on Sunday morning following a checkup and has been discharged following treatment. The Oscar-winning music composer and singer returned from London on Saturday, Mar. 15, 2025, reportedly feeling unwell and visited a private hospital on Greams Road in Chennai for a checkup.
NDTV reports that according to the doctors, Rahman was feeling unwell due to dehydration, possibly as he’d been fasting for Ramzan. India Today reports that the composer arrived at the hospital on Sunday morning, complaining of neck pain. The doctors conducted tests, including an electrocardiogram (ECG) and echocardiogram.
A medical bulletin shared by the hospital’s director of medical services said, “Mr. A.R. Rahman, visited Apollo Hospitals, Greams Road today morning with dehydration symptoms and got discharged after routine check-up.”
His family went on to share an update about Rahman’s health on Instagram. Rahman’s son A.R. Ameen said in an Instagram Story, “To all our dear fans, family, and well-wishers, I sincerely thank you for your love, prayers, and support. My father felt a bit weak due to dehydration, hence we went ahead and did some routine tests, but I’m happy to share that he is doing well now.”
