A Summer’s Day, the new “women-focused festival” in Mumbai has a few other surprises besides the Grammy award-winning headliner, Norah Jones. In tune with the festival’s easy listening vibe, the folk/ jazz songstress will be supported by Mumbai pop rock act Ankur & The Ghalat Family as well as New York based multi-instrumentalist Karsh Kale.

Kale, who has previously collaborated with Jones and Anoushka Shankar on the track “Easy”, will perform with Karsh Kale Collectiv as part of the day-long festival organized by Only Much Louder in partnership with Women’s Cancer Initiative ”“ Tata Memorial Hospital. With Kale included, we think Jones might have a few guests on stage at the festival, considering her studio collaborations with American folk singer-songwriter M. Ward, who will also perform at A Summer’s Day.

Ward, of folk pop bands such as She & Him [with actor Zooey Deschanel] and supergroup Monsters of Folk which features members of psychedelic rock band My Morning Jacket and indie rock band Bright Eyes, will also be touring India for the first time in March. The day-long festival will feature another stage, the Think Pink stage, that will see performances by buoyant pop band Spud In The Box, Mumbai singer-songwriter Siddharth Basrur and frontman of Kolkata pop rock band Monkey In Me, Nischay Parekh, who recently launched his solo project.
