Indo-Canadian singer-songwriter Abhi released his EP ‘Journey>Destination’ in June

Toronto singer-songwriter Abhi Goyal (who goes by his first name as an artist) teams up with artist Sam Brown for a buoyant, playful Punjabi pop song “With Me,” with the music video starring actor Hannah-Rae Sabyan.
The song is taken from Abhi’s recently released EP Journey>Destination, which builds on the ever-expanding movement of Punjabi music going global. In the video for “With Me,” however, it’s clear that Abhi is aptly enjoying the journey along the way to unlocking a wider audience. Shot and edited by filmmaker Neo Tempus, the video sees Abhi and Sam Brown in a room full of antiques. Singing to Sabyan and vibing along to the lyrics, there’s a real mood-setter visual aesthetic to the “With Me” video, courtesy of lava lamps, disco balls and vintage VHS tapes.
The song is described in a press release as a “vibrant fusion of 80s retro pop and Punjabi music, creating an irresistible dance anthem. The English hook, delivered by the talented Sam Brown, seamlessly intertwines with Abhi’s dynamic Punjabi verses, crafting a celebratory atmosphere that invites listeners to dance and revel in joyous moments.”
The press release adds, “The music video, masterfully directed and shot by Toronto legend Neo Tempus, is a visual feast inspired by the playful and whimsical vibes of the Eighties. With its fun and lively moments, the video perfectly complements the song’s energetic spirit, making ‘With Me’ the ultimate summer track.”
In addition to the lover-boy fun on “With Me,” there’s hip-hop on “Gadi Vich,” the lo-fi chill space of “Manifest” and “U&ME” (the latter bringing a smattering of English rap). The artist teams up with Deeplyricist for the dancefloor-friendly “Your Eyes,” which also takes an English and Punjabi approach, with female vocals. “Journey>Destination is a project that bridges the gap between Indian and Western sound. This album shadows me as a human and my journey so far on this planet,” the artist says in a statement.
