The New Delhi/New York singer-songwriter will play six shows across the country
New Delhi/New York singer-songwriter Abhilasha Sinha is all set to hit the road for her debut India tour this weekend following the release of her three mellifluous singles “Mother,” “Tum Ho Yahaan” and “Hold Your Pride.” Sinha’s Labours of Love Tour will see her perform six gigs across New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Bengaluru from July 20th to August 2nd.
Ask Sinha – who is also part of genre-bending outfit No Honey and New Delhi soul/pop trio RIVER – what she’s looking forward to from the tour and she says, “Playing in cities I’ve never played before with my own music – which is pretty much all of them.”
Of the six gigs, only Sinha’s New Delhi and Mumbai shows will feature a full band while the rest are solo performances. The musician’s setlist will include unreleased tracks as well as older material. She says, “There’s also one song I perform completely improvised, completely new, with input from the audience on what they want the song to be about.”
Since Sinha is now based in New York she admits that it is difficult for her to stay relevant in the music scene in India. “I’m trying my best to give as much live time [while in India] and new music as possible,” she says. On what she hopes people attending the shows take away, Sinha says, “I just hope they have a lovely evening and maybe go back and listen to my music.”
