Fresh on the heels of their two big wins at the ninth edition of the Jack Daniel’s Rock Awards, Delhi-based jazz band Adil & Vasundhara have plans to launch solo projects. Dismissing rumors of the band breaking up, guitarist Adil Manuel says, “We are definitely not breaking up. Though we are looking forward to taking up individual projects. I have, in fact, started my own guitar bass project.” When asked whether the band was taking a break, vocalist Vasundhara Vidalur says, “Yes. We are headed for a break, after finishing off the already booked work. We want to do our own stuff for a while”

Adil and Vasundhara started out in 2009 as a duo. In the next three years, they conquered both Indian and international audiences with their inimitable blend of jazz, soul and R n B with songs in English, French and even Assamese. The band that has also played at international music festivals such as Festival Tout Le Monde Chante (TLMC) in Villefranche de Rouergue (France), Festival Corne d’Or in Istanbul (Turkey), Centre Mandapa in Paris (France), Clef d’Or in Plovdiv (Bulgaria) will be seen playing a “a bunch of fashion gigs for Chivas, for Ravi Bajaj and [designer]Ashish Soni,” among others.

Last year, the guitarist and vocalist collaborated with the likes of jazz veteran Louiz Banks and composer/producer Loy Mendonsa for their album Ampersand, which won them the Best Bassist and Best Female Vocalist Award at the Jack Daniel’s Rock Awards this year.

Adil and Vasundhara will continue to perform together until the first week of March.
