Composer Advait Sawant and Singer Abhay Jodhpurkar Team Up for Electro-Infused Love Song ‘Tu Hi Re’
Released via Salim-Sulaiman’s Merchant Records, this is the second song off Sawant’s upcoming EP ‘Bekhabar’
Mumbai composer Advait Sawant teams up with singer Abhay Jodhpurkar and lyricist Deepak Yadav for a breezy, EDM-leaning love song “Tu Hi Re,” part of Sawant’s upcoming EP Bekhabar. In the music video directed by Aakib Siddique, a lover takes to sketching his muse from memory as he waits impatiently for her to respond to him.
Sawant says he’s been working on “Tu Hi Re” for the last year with Yadav. “I wanted to have a very electro-pop sound which made us try multiple arrangements. Though the main structure remained the same, this might have been the fifth or sixth version that we locked,” he says. Released via Salim-Sulaiman’s Merchant Records, “Tu Hi Re” follows Sawant’s label debut song “Bekhabar,” sung by Hriday Gattani. The composer is all praise for Salim Merchant’s involvement with each release, calling it a “big boost” to his song.
“Tu Hi Re” is the second song Jodhpurkar and Sawant have worked on together, although the first one is a Marathi song that’s yet to be released. Sawant says of his Jodhpurkar, “The way he blends the western vocal ideas but still keeps it rooted, the variations and improvisations from his side has really helped the song well.” The song also brings in co-producer Vijay D. Singh, guitarist Sanjay Kumar and backing vocals from Anubha Kaul, with sound engineer and producer Ayan De taking on mixing duties.
There’s more music coming up from Bekhabar EP, which has two songs out now. As a producer, Sawant’s flourishes will next be heard in the background score for the film Dono and season two of Rocket Boys.
