Sid Sriram Joins Afsheen’s New Dance-Pop Song ‘Lost For Words’
The American-Iranian DJ-producer’s upcoming album ‘Small World’ comes out Oct. 11

Los Angeles-based Iran-origin producer Afsheen has tapped Indo-American powerhouse singer-songwriter Sid Sriram for a song called “Lost For Words,” off the former’s upcoming album Small World. The collab-heavy LP, featuring dancefloor-friendly tunes from artists around the world, will release along with “Lost For Words” on Oct. 11, 2024.
With seven tracks off the 14-song album out so far, “Lost For Words” sees Sriram represent his distinctly Carnatic-meets-R&B vocals over Afsheen’s dance-pop production. A press release says that the initial version of “Lost For Words” was recorded in 2019, marking the start of their creative partnership. “The song combines the emotive depth of Sriram’s voice, rooted in Carnatic music and modern R&B, with Afsheen’s distinctive electronic sound. The result is a compelling fusion that resonates with listeners across different musical landscapes,” the press release adds. The music video for the song will also be out on Oct. 11.
Afsheen told Rolling Stone India about the song, “For me, ‘Lost For Words’ is about trusting the process, seeing your manifestations come to life right before your eyes. It all feels very overwhelming, but you take a deep breath and keep working. You just keep going, and that’s why the chorus says, ‘Lost for words, everything’s falling into place, I’m terrified so I breathe in slow and let it take the shape of infinite spaces and time.’ It’s been an honor to work with Sid. He is a once-in-a-generation voice, and I am so excited to have him on the Small World album to represent India.”
Sriram, who released his album Sidharth last year – is one among a few more bringing “cross-cultural collaborations” on Afsheen’s album. Closer within the U.S., there’s Atlanta rap star Trinidad James on “Leveling Up” with hip-hop/pop artist Moza Kaliza. Then, Japanese artist Haru Nemuri leads “No Muse” and Jamaican artist Olaf Blackwood appears on “Next To Me” and Iranian artist Poobon joins “Habibi Baby.”
