Last month, Luke Kenny turned more than a few heads at Mumbai’s Bandstand when he organized for an entourage of zombies to walk along the sea face to promote his upcoming film, Rise Of The Zombie that is slated to release on February 22nd. Today, as part of the film’s teaser and music launch, Kenny has also lined up a gig featuring the artists who have contributed to the film’s soundtrack.  “Rise of the Zombie is an independent project in the true sense. There’s no music director for the film. We keep hearing the rhetoric that the talent in India is not being utilized. So for the film, artists such as Aditi Singh Sharma and Suraj Jagan, who have contributed to film music in the past, are no longer just voices but artists with full control over their work,” says Kenny who will also be performing a few tracks from the film’s soundtrack.

Aizawl rockers Boomarang, who have recently returned from a Vietnam tour, will perform in the city after over a year. The band’s gig staple, “Home,” features on the soundtrack and will also make it to their upcoming self-titled album, which they plan to release by February. “We plan to play one song today,” says PB Lianmawia aka Atea, the band’s lead vocalist. “We are a fun band and love performing on stage. If the audience asks for more tracks, we will readily oblige,” he adds.

Grammy-winning musician Biddu has also rearranged Nazia Hassan’s “Aao Na Pyar Karein” for the soundtrack of Rise Of The Zombie and though the yesteryear popstar is not in the country, a video clip of his song will be played at the event. Other artists performing today include Aditi Singh Sharma, Caralisa Monteiro, Suraj Jagan and two members of Mumbai band Slow Down Clown, Arfaaz Kagalwala and Anurag Shanker, who have produced four songs from the upcoming film.

Rise of The Zombie music launch will take place at Bandra Amphitheatre today. Entry free. Gates open 6.30pm. For details, click here
