Alan Walker is ‘Team Side’ for Royal Challengers Bangalore’s New IPL Song

The Norwegian DJ-producer makes good on his promise to engage with Indian fans, with an India tour imminent

With the Indian Premiere League (IPL) cricket tournament set to kick off this week, Norwegian DJ-producer Alan Walker has joined in the action, releasing a new song for Royal Challengers Bangalore called “Team Side ft RCB” which was launched as part of his performance at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium earlier this week.

A typically euphoric track from Walker, “Team Side” opens with the chants of “RCB” and brings in singer Sofiloud aka Lise Reppe alongside Kannada and Hindi vocals to keep the fighting spirit of the team alive. Walker said in a post on Instagram, “Made the new official team track for @royalchallengersbangalore so now I’m officially a part of the team. But I’m not done yet, cause I need to come back to score a 100.”

At the launch for the song, Walker performed a stadium gig, met with RCB and Indian cricketing star Virat Kohli and wicketkeeper and batsman Dinesh Karthik. Photos also show Walker being presented with a personalized RCB jersey and meeting with the 2024 Women’s Premier League-winning team from RCB, including captain Smriti Mandhana.

Walker said in a press release about writing RCB’s team anthem and performing at the launch event #RCBUnbox, “I love cricket and I’m looking forward to meeting all the Indian cricket legends on the field. Team Side ft RCB is not just a track, but it is also a celebration of my incredibly exciting year in India. The song is a celebration of hope, joy, community and unity, and above all, an ambition that this will be the biggest year in my career in this market. I can’t wait for fans to experience the track live!”

Later today, on March 20th, Walker continues his India visit with a special event in Mumbai. The EDM artist will launch what is being called his biggest India tour so far and celebrating five years since the release of his hit song “On My Way.”

In an interview with Rolling Stone India, Walker had hinted about coming back to India in a big way in 2024. He said, “We didn’t stop by India last year, and that’s the first time in quite a while where there hasn’t been anything. It was also kind of good to take a little bit of a break from India, make people hyped for our return and I’ve seen it on social media. People really want me to come back to India, and I can’t wait. I think we’ll be planning to do some shows around India and maybe explore some new cities that I haven’t been to before.”
