EDM artist Alan Walker gives a new spin to his latest single “Who I Am” with a “restrung” performance video, joined by collaborator singers Putri Ariani and Peder Elias atop the snowcapped Åndalsnes mountains in Norway.

Retaining the buildup elements from the original, Walker also strips it back for a galloping, folk-like cadence that’s heightened by the string section and a vocal choir. Walker says in a statement about the video, “It almost feels surreal that just 10 days ago, we were standing on the mountain tops in Norway to shoot this video. I was prepared for the Norwegian winter, but the gusts of wind on the first day of filming were intense! Poor Putri came from 35 degrees in Indonesia. Fortunately, it calmed down, and we ended up with an incredibly beautiful product, and not least and amazing experience.”

This new version of “Who I Am” – an introspective song that didn’t take the typical EDM route even in its original release – comes packaged into an EP from Walker. The eight tracks range from a cappella and instrumental versions of “Who I Am,” plus a new take by Indian lo-fi producer Gravero, Indonesia dance trio Feel Koplo’s version and more.

Walker says about the song, “‘Who I Am’ has meant so much to all of us. Not only have we developed a unique friendship among ourselves, but we’ve also had the chance to reflect on our own lives from an outside perspective. Seeing the engagement with ‘Who I Am,’ there was no doubt that we wanted to do more with this song.”

The Norwegian EDM artist spoke with Rolling Stone India earlier this month about everything from gaming to India plans. He said about an imminent return to the country, “We didn’t stop by India last year, and that’s the first time in quite a while where there hasn’t been anything. It was also kind of good to take a little bit of a break from India, make people hyped for our return and I’ve seen it on social media.”
