You know a great album when its collaborations include Delhi producer and prog metal band Skyharbor guitarist Keshav Dhar and Carnatic rock guitarÂist Baiju Dharmajan. The Down Troddence take names (“Muck Fun Mohan”), deliver a dressing down of their own generation (“KFC”) and growl in Sanskrit (“Shiva”) on their debut album. The band channels inner deÂmons on songs such as “NagavalÂli” taking folk myth and mashing it with crushing riffs. The Down Troddence have a winner in fusÂing not just modern metal and groove metal, but also throwing in Kerala folk dance rhythms and Carnatic rock solos.
