Copenhagen-based Indian-origin artist Alo Wala traverses hip-hop, pop and electronic with a hint of Indian classical elements on her new song “Here and Now,” featuring hip-hop veteran Pav4n.

The song is produced by Italian artists Ckrono and Clap! Clap!, under the moniker Satori Stereo Saiyan. Alo Wala, who previously released her EP Tough Gains in 2023, says, “It was in the wake of loss, and represented hope. Pav4n is just a legend, he’s prolific and quick with it too. I remember he heard a sketch of the song and was immediately in. I’m always learning from him and am humbled to share this song with him and with my friends Satori.”

It’s the first collab between Alo Wala and Pav4n, although the duo have known each other for more than a decade when they shared a mutual love for a London-based brand. Alo Wala adds that “Here and Now” represents a “new era in music” for her. She adds, “It’s the first song I made with Italian producer Satori Stereo Saiyan (Ckrono and Clap! Clap!) – we’re essentially getting to know each other through working on this song. It’s also a departure for me vocally as I am singing and not rapping… I gave priority to the overall vibe of the song, without feeling obligated to rap… that was refreshing.”

She’s all praise for Pav4n as well, particularly for his work with the U.K. crew Foreign Beggars. She says, “His flow and depth are unmatched. Pav radiates in everything he touches, and I’m so grateful he blessed this track. I’ve always admired his skills and relentless dedication to the craft… no joke, I always tell him I want to be a little more like him.”

Pav4n adds in his statement, “Working with Alo Wala after so many years of friendship and respect for her artistry was an honor. One of the first desi women of real hip-hop is a time stamp on the entire movement, as far as I am concerned.”
