Alobo Naga to Release New Single “All We Have Is Now”
The Dimapur, Nagaland-based pop rock artist and his band will release a full-length album by the end of the year
Alobo Naga and the Band might have won the Best Indian act award at the MTV Europe Music Awards in 2012, but the Dimapur pop rock band’s frontman still says their recognition can only go so far. Says Naga, “Coming up from a small town and making our music to reach the level of an international hit was not easy.” With the commonplace problem of financial constraints and lack of gigs, Naga channeled the frustration into song, on their single “All We Have Is Now,” but made it much more positive. The Naga band are all set to release their single on June 7th, followed by a music video launch this weekend as well.
Says Naga about the single, which was written last year, “It’s about the social issues in daily life where there is a bias [against us] in almost all the fields. The song is a view of an artist like us, to see things positively and making the best of what we have now.” The single is the first off their upcoming album, the follow-up to their 2011 EP Painted Dreams, due by the end of the year.
The band roped in British producer and audio engineer Tim Palmer to mix “All We Have Is Now.” Palmer, who has previously mixed albums by the likes of Pearl Jam and U2, was a perfect match for the band. Says Naga, “One of the reason we wanted him on board was because he had mixed albums by many bands similar to our type of music. Secondly, we were happy to have him because of his experience and the name.” Palmer adds, “I am thankful to the internet for allowing me to be introduced to great music being made far away…this time in India. The band are from Nagaland, but truth is, this song could be a hit any country.”
